The goal is to Infuse the local culture and story within the office space. We are tasked to deliver a creative space that is heavily themed with each room transporting you to a totally different immersive experience. We worked closely with the Architecture firm to build on top of their design with our expertise.
My Role | Lead Designer & Project Manager
I led the design efforts on this project, working closely with three team members and reporting to Amanda Jurum, our Design Director, during the SD and DD phases. In addition, I took on the role of project manager to oversee the CD phase and manage the CA process while the Design Director was on maternity leave.

Childhood Lounge
Gaming lounge | Designer: Chris Lai
This space serves as the initial landing area when descending from the firefly staircase. It draws inspiration from children's games to create a nostalgic and playful atmosphere, sparking curiosity.
Designed as a gaming lounge, it provides employees with a space to unwind and take a break from their workday
Designer: Chris Lai
Highlighted Feature:
Typographic expression of childhood rhymes printed on wood
Custom handmade hopscotch rug
Custom wall graphic with colors and graphic language that unifies the space
Alebrije Room
Themed Conference room | Designer: Chris Lai
Concealed behind the two-tone glass film, an eye peeks out from the negative space of a serpent.
This room celebrates Alebrijes. They are brightly colored Mexican folk art depicting fantastical creatures. In this room, I illustrated full murals around the room and collaborated with local artists to create custom dimensional artworks, including a painted tail suspended from the ceiling.
As a whimsical touch to the overall design, axolotls are hidden around the office. The axolotl, an endangered species and an iconic Mexican creature with ancient origins, is native to Mexico alone.
Can you find the graphic we hid in the Alebrije mural?
Training Room
Themed Training Room | Designer: Chris Lai
The theme of this training room draws inspiration from the dynamic urban environment.
We've incorporated simplified geometric graphics, taking cues from the surrounding architecture and the colors adorning the buildings. This design approach creates an intriguing contrast with the delicate linework of the nearby landmarks, akin to the juxtaposition of modern skyscrapers alongside millennia-old structures.
This mural is intended to serve as a backdrop for training sessions. Since the audience will likely be in this space over an extended period, we opted for a simpler design.
Additional Features
Fondita Conference Room
Designer: Martyna Ziemba-Martinez PM: Chris Lai;
This conference room draws its inspiration from the cozy ambiance of the local fondita kitchen, featuring walls painted in various vibrant colors, adorned with plant decorations and spoon motifs. The privacy film design takes cues from hand-painted tiles commonly found in fonditas and the traditional decoration of papel picado. Additionally, we've collaborated with local artists to custom-paint the hanging plates, adding a unique touch to the space.
Cempasuchil Conference Room
Designer: Martyna Ziemba-Martinez PM: Chris Lai;
Step into an installation inspired by the elaborate cempasuchil flower arrangements of Dia de los Muertos. Cempasuchil flowers, abundant during this festive occasion, feature prominently in the decorations. In this conference room, the walls are filled with handcrafted felt and paper flowers by local artist.
PinzCal Coffee Bar
Designer/PM: Chris Lai; Signage: Younglin Che
This is the coffee bar in the office, known as Pinzcal. Taking inspiration from Mezcal, a smoky tequila variant, and the traditional Jicara cups in which it's traditionally served. We partnered with a local muralist to craft a bespoke wall covering on the ceiling that this inspired by the intricate carving of these cups.
